The Assumption celebrates God's grace at work throughout Mary's life, but more specifically, through the threshold of her death. This grace, this divine love, carried Mary, body and soul, home to God.
Despite the many challenges of her life, Mary trusted that God would always be faithful. Mary's faith in God is a model for all of us; a model for the entire church. As pilgrims through time, we are called to trust that God's goodness will not fail us. It will prevail through the final frontier of our dying and death. God's grace will raise us to new life in Christ.
The Assumption of Mary celebrates her participation in the new life given to us by our Lord Jesus Christ. It is the celebration of our future. Where Mary has gone, we hope to follow. Hence, we pray that Mary's faith in God's faithfulness in all things would be ours.
