Some time ago both the Parish Council and Finance Board voted unanimously that the property at 40 Church Street should be sold. Monies derived from the rental of the house to not generate any income for the parish once all expenses are factored in. The house does need a good amount of repair and upgrading. There is also agreement that being a "landlord" in this day and age can bring about too many complications and liabilities.
July 11th update: The property is being properly surveyed. There is uncertainty as to where the property boundary lies in regards to the church parking lot. Once this has been resolved, the property will be put up for sale.
Parking Lot Church Entrance Door
The parking lot church entrance door frame has warped due to moisture. The door along with the entire frame may need to be replaced.
July 11th update: The contractor will begin repair work as soon as possible. Due to material supply shortages throughout the construction industry, this has been delayed.
Parking and Entrance Signage
The handicapped parking and entrance signage to the church have not been up to code for a number of years.
July 11th update: We have contracted with a local company to remedy this. Expect to see new signage in the near future.
Front Steps
We are working to have the front steps of the church and front walkway repaired this year. We need to be mindful that once the work is undertaken (hopefully by early fall), we will not be able to use the front entrance for about 2 weeks, depending on the weather. During this time we may need to celebrate funerals in neighboring Catholic churches. More information about this will be provided as the work progresses.
July 11th update: A portion of the front steps will need to be removed within the next week so as to allow the contractor to examine the condition of structures under the steps.
