In the words of Joanne Alley, the recently-retired director of 20 years:
"We have seen many changes (the biggest of which is our home at 91 June St.) and weathered many storms, but through it all, we continued with our mission to help families who have no place to call home. And through it all, we never lost the support of our congregations and the thousands of volunteers who have supported us throughout the year.
"Thank you doesn’t seem to adequately express my gratitude for all that you have done for IHN these past 20 years. We have been so blessed to have each and every one of you supporting our program, whether it was by providing a meal, a loaf of bread or gallon of milk, playing with a child, spending time with an adult, helping provide gifts at Christmas, providing a financial donation or saying a prayer. No act of kindness was too small to go unnoticed and every act of kindness was truly appreciated by the guests and the staff." Your tireless effort, giving your time, talents, support and love to the families, the emotional support and love you gave to all of the staff and to me personally mean more than you’ll ever know! You made it possible for us to do our job and together we were able to provide a safe home for our families as they work toward stability and permanent homes."
We will be looking for volunteers to serve as Evening and Overnight Hosts during the final week of August. Sign-up sheets will be on the bulletin board in the side entrance of the church.
