During the week of June 13-19, our parish will host homeless families at the Interfaith Hospitality Network at 91 June Street in Worcester. We have a great need for new volunteers! Dozens of people in our parish and in our partner congregation of Oakdale United Methodist Church have given generously of their time in the last 15+ years. But many of those dedicated volunteers are getting older and are unable to continue to serve as they would like. The need continues for Evening and Overnight hosts since the shelter relies on volunteers -- not paid staff -- to cover evening and overnight shifts.
COVID protocols: Vaccinated volunteers may choose to go upstairs and spend time with the families. All will continue to wear masks in the presence of others except when eating. Unvaccinated volunteers and those who prefer may stay in the office, in order to minimize contact. Volunteers, either in or out of the office, still play a critical role in helping the shelter to serve families in need.
If you have not volunteered previously, we can match you with an experienced volunteer the first time. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Janet Vignaly at [email protected] to be added to the list. Sign-ups will be done electronically.
Monetary contributions are greatly appreciated. If you are able to help, please contact Terri King at the rectory. Your help and prayers make this ministry possible!
