Some time ago both the Parish Council and Finance Board voted unanimously that the property at 40 Church Street should be sold. Monies derived from the rental of the house do not generate any income for the parish once all expenses are factored in. The house does need a good amount of repair and upgrading. There is also agreement that being a “landlord” in this day and age can bring about too many complications and liabilities.
40 Church Street October 5th update: The surveying of the property has been completed. However there remains a discrepancy between the surveying and town documents on hand. These need to be reconciled. Once completed, we will need to petition for a variance from the town pertaining to lot size and frontage. Once this has all been resolved, the property will be put up for sale.
Parking lot church entrance October 5th update: The parking lot church entrance door frame has warped due to moisture. Work on this is scheduled to begin soon. No specific date from the contractor.
Exterior Front church steps and walkway—October 18th Update: The project has been approved by the Diocesan Building Commission. The contract with D.S. Landscaping was signed this past week. However, due to work delays connected to the very rainy summer we’ve had along with a shortage of workers, the replacement of the front steps may have to be put off until early spring. We need to be mindful that once the work is undertaken, we will not be able to use the front entrance for about two weeks, depending on the weather.
The exterior church sign on the front lawn was replaced this past week. We thank CONNOR SIGN CO. for their great work in creating a beautiful sign befitting our parish church!
