The Diocese is in dialogue with the town regarding the required variances that will be needed for the sale of the property. During the recent cold weather, the heating failed and some pipes burst resulting in water damage. We are working with the diocese as well as the insurance company.
Parking lot church entrance door replacement - January 17th update:
The work is complete. However, the contractor has pointed out that the other door (directly in front of the elevator) is undergoing the same deterioration. After upcoming discussion with the Parish Council/Finance Board, it is likely that we will need to have this entrance repaired as well. Work would probably be undertaken in the fall.
Exterior Front church steps and walkway - February 7th Update:
The project has been approved by the Diocesan Building Commission. The contract with D.S. Landscaping has been signed.
This week we received word from the contractor that work is on schedule to begin this spring. We need to be mindful that once the work is undertaken, we will not be able to use the front entrance for about two weeks, depending on the weather.
Last week we received our first dividend - a check in the amount of $20,000 - from the Legacy of Hope Campaign. We will receive periodic payments as we move forward. All of these monies will be used to pay for the front walkway/stair project which will cost about $75,000, excluding the landscaping that will need to be undertaken once the stonework is completed.
